What it is
Merge 2048 is ByteBuffer’s take on the classic tile-merge puzzle. You slide a 4×4 grid, combine matching numbers, and try to build toward the 2048 tile. Rounds are short enough for the gap between tasks: start a board, merge a few tiles, stop whenever you need to get back to work.
The game lives inside Chrome’s side panel—not a separate window—so your current tab stays put. After you open Merge 2048 once, ByteBuffer can cache it on this device for offline play.
How to play
- Add ByteBuffer to Chrome from the Web Store.
- Open the side panel with the toolbar icon or Alt+Shift+B (Option+Shift+B on Mac).
- Choose Merge 2048 from the game list.
- Use the arrow keys or swipe to slide tiles; equal numbers merge into one.
- Press the same shortcut again when you want to close the panel and continue.
Why the side panel
-
Plays offline
After Merge 2048 is cached on your device, you can keep playing with no network.
-
One-key close
Close the side panel in one keystroke and return to the page you were on.
-
Stay in the tab
No new window. The layout is made for a narrow column beside your work.
In the Chrome side panel
Install the extension to open ByteBuffer beside the page you’re already looking at. Merge 2048 and the other casual games appear in that panel—not on this marketing page.
